FAQ : Expertise and origin of our gemstones.

  • Are your gemstones certified by laboratories?

Certain high-value gemstones are accompanied by analysis reports from recognized independent laboratories such as the GIA, IGI, or Bellerophon. As a graduate gemologist from the Royal Belgian Society of Gemmology (SRBG), I personally examine each gemstone using precision instruments. This expertise ensures that each stone is identified in accordance with the current state of gemological knowledge.

  • What is the origin of your gemstones and are they ethical?

My stones mostly come from small-scale artisanal mines located in producing countries such as Colombia, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Thailand, or Afghanistan. I prioritize direct sourcing from local miners who work independently. For stones from larger structures, I select partners like Gemfields or Fura who adhere to the Responsible Jewellery Council to ensure responsible mining practices.

  • Are all the gemstones on the website natural?

All the gemstones offered on this website are of natural origin, formed by the earth over millennia. Unlike synthetic lab-grown stones, natural stones possess unique inclusions and color variations that prove their authenticity. Each crystal is a rare product whose characteristics cannot be identically reproduced.

  • Do you cut the gemstones you sell yourself?

As an artisan lapidary, I cut most of the gemstones on the website from rough crystals selected during my travels. My work also involves recutting stones from old or damaged stocks to restore them and optimize their optical properties and brilliance. A few stones retain their native cut performed in their country of origin when it perfectly enhances the natural beauty of the rough.

  • Do the gemstones in your inventory undergo any treatments?

Naturally perfect gemstones are an exception in nature. A part of my inventory consists of untreated gemstones, particularly prized for their rarity. Other stones benefit from traditional treatments like heating for sapphires and rubies, or oiling for emeralds. These ancestral methods only serve to enhance the color or clarity of the stone.

  • Do you offer a recutting or restoration service?

I occasionally offer my services for specific projects, notably the recutting and cleaning of emeralds. I specialize in removing old resins for re-oiling with high-quality liquid oil. For precision cutting, I use advanced 3D modeling and an American lapidary machine to achieve perfect reflection angles and a high-precision finish.
